A photographic series exploring a small village called Mitford near my home; a place that I trace over often and a place which has lost its rural importance over the years.
The use of B+W tampered film and hand-processing explores a very human process where the photographs are somewhat 'marked' with touch - scratches and fingerprints - alike the footprints that walk over the landscape.
'I thought it would last my time –
The sense that, beyond the town,
There would always be fields and farms,
Where the village louts could climb
Such trees as were not cut down'
- Philip Larkin, Going Going
